An in-depth Neon Valorant guide that will explain everything you need to know about the Agent and the best way to play with it. From her strengths to weaknesses you will find everything you need to know about Neon.

Neon Role

Neon is the most recent Duelist in the game, having been launched on the 11 of January of 2022. Similar to other Duelists she is a self-sufficient fragger, is expected to find opening picks, and to force duels.

Polygon

She was one of the most anticipated Agents, and since its release been receiving some mixed reviews. Some say she is game-breaking, while others think she is a good Agent but not as good as some make it sound.

Neon is one of the most picked Duelists right now. Her ability kit makes it so she can be a valuable Agent in almost all the maps in the game.

Then let's see what are Neon abilities, and why some people consider her a top Duelist in the game.

An in-depth look at Neon abilities

Neon has a really strong kit. All of her abilities are strong, and you find a lot of value in all of the maps. However, she is not an easy Agent to master so a few practice games will help you a lot.

DiamondLobby

She can drastically accelerate the pace of the game. Catching you off guard from angles and spots in the map you didn't think she had the time to get to. Her utility is also good to clear choke points.

Fast Lane

  • Cost: 300 Credits
  • Charges: 1
  • Duration: 6 seconds
  • Damage: 30 hp per second
  • Function: Neon fires two energy lines in the ground that create a curtain that covers a short distance or until they hit a surface.
  • Default Command Key: C

Fast Lane is really similar to the Phoenix wall. It allows Neon to create a curtain that blocks the enemy's vision and damages them if they touch it or go through it. This ability is one of the best entry tools Neon posses in her kit.

Rock_Paper_Shotgun

She can use Fast Lane to block the enemy's vision while entering a bombsite. Creating multiple pathways with this ability will allow you to catch enemies off guard. You can also use it to bait out enemy utility or to fake from where you will enter.

Relay Bolt

  • Cost: 200 Credits
  • Charges: 2
  • Duration: 3 seconds
  • Function: Throws an energy bolt that upon hitting a surface electrifies the ground below stunning the players in that area.
  • Default Command Key: Q

Relay Bolt is a crowd control ability. With Relay Bolt Neon throws an energy bolt that will go forward bouncing off the first surface and then landing on a second surface. On both of the surfaces that Relay Bolt hits a concussive zone will be created stunning the enemies.

This ability is great to clear choke points. It's also really good to use when entering a bombsite. Throwing it to a spot where enemies normally play. With a three-second duration if an enemy gets hit by Relay Bolt it's probably game over for them.

Sportskeeda_NoA3TFv

You can use it while running since it was a really fast cast time, and it's perfect to catch enemies by surprise.

There are multiple ways to use this ability, bouncing it off the floor, the ceiling, etc. Spending some time practicing this ability, and finding the best ways to use it on each map is something I advise you to do.

High Gear

  • Cost: Free
  • Charges: 1
  • Cooldown: 2 kill recharge
  • Function: When activated Neon instantly gets increased speed. ALT+Fire allows Neon to electric slide. The slide resets every two kills

Neon instantly increases her movement speed and jump distance. She can also slide by using ALT+Fire. Similar to Viper abilities, High Gear also uses an energy bar. Neon can activate and deactivate High Gear whenever she wants as long as she has enough energy.

This ability is what makes Neon one of the best Agents to accelerate the pace of the game. She can sprint to a bombsite and slide in the face of her enemies catching them by surprise.

All_Gamers

She can also get to spots really quickly, especially at the beginning of the round, catching enemies off guard. You can also use it to rotate from one side of the map to the other in a very fast way. Only by teleport can you rotate faster than Neon with High Gear active.

OverDrive

  • Cost: 7 Ultimate Points
  • Damage: 22-10 with fall off
  • Function: Unleash Neon full speed for a short duration. Fire to channel a lightning beam that damages enemies and has a high movement accuracy.
  • Default Command Key: X

Neon OverDrive is similar to Jett ultimate but with a bean instead of knives. When activated Neon refills all her energy and equips a lightning beam. She will also automatically equip High gear whenever you activate OverDrive.

Clutcvh_Points

You can use all of Neon's abilities while OverDrive is active, and can also equip other weapons.\ Once the energy Is over her ultimate will also end. Her beam fires in a straight line and has infinite range.

How you should Play with Neon

As a duelist, you want to find entry kills. Neon is a very movable Duelist with high outplay potential. You want to accelerate the pace of the game, trying to catch enemies off guard and force duels.

With Fast Lane, you can also block the enemy's vision making it easier for your team to enter the bombsite. Her speed combined with the rest of the abilities make her a menace to deal with. Neon slide is also a really strong tool to pick enemies from an angle they are not expecting.

She is a master at rotating. It takes her half the time it takes other Agents to rotate. You can take advantage of this by faking on a bombsite and quickly rotating to the other part of the map. Or just rotate quickly to another bombsite on defense.

Overall you will have to learn how to abuse her speed to your advantage since that is her most powerful weapon.

Neon Weaknesses

Neon main weakness is her lack of utility on the defensive side. Apart from her stun, she doesn't have anything to slow the enemy's executions.

However, it's normal for Duelist to not be as valuable on the defensive side. You should pick how you position on the defensive side wisely since you don't have great tools to stop the opponent's rush.

Overall Neon is pretty similar to Jett, but Jett still has a better kit, and despite a lot of hype around Neon she will not overthrow Jett. Not right now at least.

She is a very fun Agent to play and she is strong. Not overpowered like many say, but still an Agent where you can find value in almost all the maps.

I hope this guide helped you understand how you should utilize Neon to the best of your abilities. Her strengths, weaknesses, what makes her one of the best duelists in the game, and how to find success with her.
