It has been a little over a month since the new duelist Iso came out, we’ve seen many ways to play the agent and how he fits in the current meta. So, if you’re an Iso enjoyer, here you will find the best tips and tricks to play him and how to utilize his abilities well.

How To Use ISO’s Ability Kit

Before we go on and tell you the best ways to use each piece of utility ISO has, let’s introduce his kit so we make sure we’re on the same page:

(E) Double Tap

  • Description: START a focus timer. Once completed, enter a flow state during which downed enemies you kill or damage generate an energy orb. Shooting this orb grants you a shield that absorbs one instance of damage from any source.

  • Usage: This is his most basic ability, it’s pretty straightforward: Whenever you feel like you’re on the urge to take a fight, activate it. Now remember, each time you click the bubble after you kill someone the shield timer resets, it does not stack up.

(C) Contingency

  • Description: EQUIP to assemble prismatic energy. FIRE to push an indestructible wall of energy forward that blocks bullets

  • Usage: While this piece of utility is the most underwhelming in his kit, it still can serve a good purpose. You should aim to use it when you want to push an area, you do that by sending your wall in and walking with it taking it as a walking shield.

(Q) Undercut

  • Description: EQUIP a molecular bolt. Fire to throw it forward, applying a brief FRAGILE to all players it touches. The bolt can pass through solid objects, including walls.

  • Usage: This is one of his best abilities, this will work as an Omen flash, except it will be much faster and will result in players becoming vulnerable. Best used in pistol rounds or to combo it with other teammates’ utility such as Raze nade or so.

(X / ULT) Kill Contract

  • Description: EQUIP an interdimensional arena. FIRE to hurl a column of energy through the battlefield, pulling you and the first enemy hit into the arena. You and your opponent duel to the death.

  • Usage: Your ultimate is a 50/50 as it will give you and your opponent full health and let you take a fair duel; though, it can be to your advantage. Prioritize using it to take a Sentinel off their site so your team can run it.

It’s important to note that if both players survive until 15 seconds, all players will die.

Pro Tips

  • When using your ultimate, make sure you’re in a safe space as it’s very easy for enemies to walk up and kill you. Think of it as a Phoenix ult, you don’t want to be in an exposed position, otherwise, you will get instantly traded if you win your duel.

  • It’s important to remember that the ultimate will reset both of you and the enemy to equal terms regardless of your conditions mid-round, for example, if your enemy is 1 HP and you ult them in, you both will start at full shield full HP so pay attention to that.

  • Remember that all abilities are disabled by default once you enter your ultimate, this includes abilities that are previously casted; which means if you used any utility on an enemy it won’t carry on during your ultimate.

  • As an ISO, it’s really important to combo your abilities and make sure you use them together. With the set kit you have, you are able to create unique opportunities for yourself as a duelist and that’s what makes a difference.

  • Adding to utility combos, don’t hesitate to ask your teammates for help or set them up using your abilities as your vulnerability can be the “initiating” role for so many different plays.

  • One of the best ways to use your ultimate is to counter certain agent ultimates, such as Viper ultimate. If you are playing retake and a Viper is ulted on site, you can use your ultimate hoping to capture that Viper and put down their ult.

  • Remember that ISO is not an entry agent, you have no abilities to dash or take fast control which makes it rather difficult to run it as a solo duelist. For that reason, you should always prioritize picking ISO in the spot of Reyna, as it's more efficient and effective.

  • Your ISO shield does not stack up on top of each other, rather it resets the timer of the shield before it wears down, so while it's not a priority to hit the reset there is no harm to do it if you have the chance to.

  • Finally, don’t forget to watch pro plays with ISO as that will speed up your progress playing that agent.
